Kettlebell exercises as a general rule are compound movements
Compound movements are exercises that use multiple joints to perform and give the ‘most bang for your buck’, in other words you use just about all major muscle groups to perform a lift which also means you use up many calories (aiding fat loss) and teach your body to work ‘as a unit’ and be as functional as possible.
Kettlebell exercises can be performed with one or two kettlebells and are all centred around the most basic kettlebell exercises – the kettlebell swing.
Don’t be fooled by the word basic.
The kettlebell swing looks simple and is, but if your potential is to be fullfilled then it is very important to follow guidelines and technique tips to ensure your time spent training is as effective and safe as possible
The other fundamental kettlebell exercises to learn are:
Kettlebell Clean
Kettlebell Clean and Jerk/Press
Kettlebell Turkish Get Up
and many other movements that although are useful can be thought of as extensions of the above.
First things first lets talk about the The Kettlebell Swing
