The kettlebell swing is the most basic and root of all kettlebell technqiues and should never be overlooked because it is called basic. Basic refers to the relative simlicity of this kettlebell exercise which alone can build tremendous strength, fitness and power.
In fact it is safe to say you could build an entire kettlebell workout around this exercise, which some kettlebell athletes have done with great effect.
Why is the kettlebell swing so effective?
The kettlebell swing is so effective because it is a compound movement which brings into play most major muscles, activating the posterior chain and causing a great trainin effect.
Depending on your desired goal the kettlebell swing can be used for fat loss/cardio and strength/power sessions. For fat loss longer sets of lighter kettlebell swings must be used and for strength and power, shorter more explosive bursts with heavier kettlebells should be used.
The kettlebell swing can be performed either with one or two hands and when performed with hip snap becomes a very athletic movement.
